Funding and Site Maintenance Update

HCAA awarded council Grant

Some good news for HCAA. Our application for a grant from Sheffield Council South West Local Area  Committee was successful and we have received money towards restoration of the lower gate parking area and repairs to the perimeter roadway at the very bottom of the lower section of the site where it meets the main path down the hill and has been eroded.

Work is expected to start on the parking area very soon and the roadway work will follow. “Before” pictures here - watch this space for the “after” ones.

The grant funded work will follow the hedge cutting work funded by us , i.e. HCAA. This was carried out in the last few days of 2024 by contractor Steve Whittaker. The difference across the whole site is remarkable.

Committee Members Pull Up Trees!

Other work has already been done on the top section of the main roadway next to High Storrs School. This involved cutting down and digging up trees, brambles and overgrowth and was done by committee members Ken, Kristian, Ruth and Roger who all managed to work up a sweat despite sub zero temperatures. The upshot is that Steve Whittaker can gain access along the top section of the main roadway with his machinery to trim hedges. This, in turn, will allow plot holders vehicle access from the “school gate”  at the top of the site.
